This session will take a detailed look at the recently-developed National Response Framework (NRF), which presents the guiding principles that will enable governmental and non-governmental organizations to work together to provide a unified national response to disasters and emergencies. The NRF establishes a comprehensive, national, all-hazards approach to domestic incident response. It identifies the key response principles, as well as defines the roles and structures that organize national response. The presentation will include an overview of the NRF followed by a panel discussion featuring federal, tribal, state and local government representatives discussing the practical implications.
At the end of the session, participants will be able to:
• Identify updates and changes in the NRF including the creation of the unified coordination group and how it relates to unified command
• Categorize the five principles of operation that constitute the framework
• Discuss how the NRF impact tribal governments, local jurisdictions, the private sector, non-governmental organizations (NGO’s), and state and federal interests
• Identify effective date for implementing changes and investigate means for synchronizing planning
